Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. will celebrate 100 years of Sisterhood, Scholarship, and Service in January 2013. The Gainesville Alumnae Chapter will kick-off the year-long celebration with a Centennial Gala on January 26, 2013. We are announcing our first fundraiser for the Gala – a “Split the Pot” Chance Drawing with 3 BIG prizes! Please support the fundraiser today by purchasing tickets for $5.00 each.

The trainer is Donna Bradbrook, MBA, SPHR, LG35 of the Alachua County – Office of Management and Budget. The workshop will focus on some of the basic principles and procedures of putting a good case forward for a grant proposal. Participants will learn the basics, the techniques on following the requirements and conditions for writing successful grant proposals.

This workshop is scheduled for Thursday, April 26, 2012 at the Alachua County Health Department located at 224 SE 24th ST, Gainesville, FL 32641 from 6pm to 7:30pm. Light refreshments will be served.

IMPACT is an acronym which stands for “Inspiring and Motivating Public Service Advocates for Community Transformation”. On IMPACT Day, Delta Chapters all over the world present programs revolving around a particular issue as set by our National President. The next IMPACT Day is Saturday, March 10, 2012; the focus will be domestic violence.

Domestic violence can happen to anyone regardless of race, age, sexual orientation, religion, or gender. It can affect married couples, couples living together, or those who are dating, but not living together, (more recently referred to as intimate partner violence). Domestic violence crosses all socioeconomic and educational levels.

On March 10, 2012, the Gainesville Alumnae Chapter will present a conference designed to provide education with regard to domestic violence. However, the overarching goal of every IMPACT Day is to “inspire and motivate” the public to take action.

We all can do something to provide direct assistance to victims of domestic violence. To that end, we have initiated a collection drive for items on the wish list of the Peaceful Paths Domestic Abuse Network and will present those items during the conference. Proceeds will support the American Heart Association’s Go Red for Women program (http://www.goredforwomen.org), a program designed to empower women to take charge of their heart health. The race will begin at Northeast Park and will go through Gainesville’s Historic Duckpond Neighborhood. Participants on every level are encouraged to participate. Pre-registration is $25.00. On-site registration is $30.00. Teams of 10 may register pre-register for $200.00. A T-shirt is guaranteed with every pre-registration. The race will be chip timed.

The event will be held on Monday, May 10, 2010.

Show running time: 7:00-9:00pm on the Hippodrome Mainstage.

We will highlight the artistic talents of youth in the North-Central, FL community. The audience will enjoy entertainment from Actors, Orators, Singers, Dancers, Musicians, and Poets, ages 5-18. Tickets are $10 pre-sale, $15 on the day of the show.
